Summer break may have just begun, but September is already around the corner. The start of the academic year is a big event for many students—it marks the beginning of a new chapter that will last for years. That’s why organizing a group activity during orientation week is becoming more and more popular.
The goal? To foster connections, strengthen class and study group cohesion, and help students discover the campus, its infrastructure, and key administrative departments that will support them. Here are 5 ideas to help ease the transition for new students.

Team building activities are designed to encourage interaction, support communication, and spark group cohesion. During these group games, participants get to know each other in a fun, collaborative environment.
Welcoming new students is a key moment in the school year for school and university administrators. Organizing an integration activity makes the back-to-school experience more fun and human. In a relaxed setting, students make connections and show their personalities.
Here are 5 Team Building ideas for your next orientation day.
To help make this induction day a success, we recommend offering a team-bonding activity specifically designed for this key moment. Our immersive team-building experience gives participants a fresh way to discover the campus: a fully tailored collaborative experience that invites them to explore its iconic locations, uncover lesser-known spaces, and meet the various departments that make up campus life.

For many students, the start of the academic year also means moving to a new city. A new place to discover and new bearings to find. Urban treasure hunts are a great way to explore the city and its main cultural landmarks, while also encouraging interaction between students, communication, and team spirit through photo challenges, riddles, and team-based tasks.
If you want to make your induction event for new students a success in Annecy, Lausanne, Geneva, Lyon, Paris, Evian, Cholet, Aix-les-Bains, Chambéry, or Grenoble, discover our outdoor team-building activity, “City Story”. A historical urban rally to explore the city’s landmarks, history, and fascinating anecdotes!
For all other cities, continue to the next section!
Here is another activity idea right in the heart of the campus or the city where your institution is based.
This time, the adventure takes new students on an interactive photo rally, with more than fifty missions leading them to discover their new urban environment. Various stages can also be tailored within the school itself to help them get to know every corner of the campus (facilities, student services, library, cafeteria, student union, etc.).
To achieve this, participants are encouraged to express their personality within a team, supported by their peers to communicate and demonstrate group cohesion. A great way for them to get to know one another while building connections and boosting the desire to move forward together.
Whether you choose to organise this type of activity on campus or in the city during your induction week for new students, discover our “Urban Race” team-building experience.
Additional activity idea: organise this activity in one of the city’s green spaces to bring an eco-friendly approach, raise awareness of “Zero Waste”, and reconnect with nature as part of your induction day for new arrivals.

To build new connections, nothing works better than sharing common interests through a joint project, especially as students today are particularly sensitive to environmental and ecological issues.
Invite them to take part in an escape game based on the IPCC report, focused on environmental challenges and the actions that can be taken, whether individually or collectively. Around ten puzzles across five environmental themes, combining critical thinking, strategy, and awareness-raising. A great way to quickly bring your students together and encourage the formation of discussion groups based on shared interests.
A team-based CSR activity, ideal for your induction day.
For courses delivered remotely, building connections between participants can be a real challenge. A collaborative online activity helps break the ice, encourage interaction, and create a group dynamic from the very start of the programme. Fun and interactive, this activity is ideal for supporting the integration of participants who do not meet in person.
In the digital age, even for remote learning programmes, you can still bring new participants together through an online team activity. Interaction, recognition, cohesion, and a sense of belonging are among the benefits you can expect from a group digital event.
